Volunteers Urgently Needed in Northern Alberta

Last week, a Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Unit tractor trailer left our Calgary ministry center for
Fox Lake, Alberta. A devastating wildfire burned more than 100 homes in the small First Nation community.

Over the next weeks, volunteers are urgently needed to remove debris, clean up properties, and help families sift through the ashes of their homes to recover valuables and treasured belongings. Will you consider volunteering to serve those who are hurting in Jesus’ Name?

Volunteer to Help Today

We provide full training, safety equipment, and expert team leaders. You can learn more and register to serve at SamaritansPurse.ca/AlbertaVolunteer. Please also forward this email to others you know who might be interested.

Groups interested in coming for week-long deployments can contact us at canadianrelief@samaritan.ca.

Thank you for your prayers for those devastated by these fires and for our teams as they share God’s love and help homeowners start their long journey to recovery.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Abraham was only human but he trusted God.  This week's reading is the beginning of his story.

Our articles on Gardening in Meota continue.  Do you know about Creeping Bellflower?  There are suggestions on what to plant instead.

ALBERTA WILDFIRES: Sending Help for Alberta Families

As wildfires continue to burn across Alberta, some evacuated families are being allowed to return home. Samaritan’s Purse is sending recovery supplies and relief teams to help in Jesus’ Name.

Give Today

“People are coming back to communities, uncertain of what they will find,” said Brent Davis, disaster response director for Samaritan’s Purse Canada. “Some have had their properties severely damaged or destroyed by flames. Others are returning to houses saturated with smoke and ashes.”

One hundred heavy-duty cleaning kits have gone to East Prairie Metis Settlement, Alberta, to help residents clean contaminated homes. Samaritan’s Purse teams are also on the ground, working with several First Nation and Metis communities, including Fox Lake, to provide cleanup and recovery support as evacuation orders lift.

As we coordinate with provincial and local authorities, additional teams and equipment—including our Disaster Relief Unit tractor trailers—are on standby to respond further.

Please keep praying for these families, the firefighters battling the blazes, and our teams as they share God’s love and
help residents return home.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Who can believe it is the end of May already?  Where does the time go?

This coming Sunday is Pentecost.

The full story is included this week along with cute catoons on the subject (yes, those cheeky theological sheep are back!)

Reminder that this Thursday is the Prayer and Praise Service at St. George's. Come enjoy the songs and prayers.

Discovery Days June 3 and Flower Festival July 15 need our support, please consider volunteering even for an hour or two. Or come and enjoy both events and bring along family or friends.

I found a history of the Flower Festival - how long has it been going on?

Lots to keep you informed and inspired!

Have a blessed week.
