Dear Meota,
Lots is happening in February!
Check our service locations, annual meeting and Pancake Tuesday! Yum!
There are questions: Do I bring last year's palm cross to the Feb 19th service? What does it mean to give up something for Lent? What do I love about my church?
See God's Valentine, the upcoming Readings, the puzzle and cartoons.
All for you!
May God bless you this week!

Feb 15: Journey Through Lent w/ Prof. Esau McCaulley

Discover how Lent enables believers to inhabit the church year and grow in faith.

Lent, the season during which the Church traditionally prepares for Easter, has been celebrated by Christians around the world for centuries. It is a time for new Christians to enter the community of believers, and for every Christian to focus on repentance and renewal.

Many people, if they celebrate Lent at all, use it primarily as a time to give up a less-than-healthy habit. But the season includes so much more! There are practices, prayers, and services all designed to encourage reflection and repentance. But these don’t have to be intimidating. This course will help lower the barriers of Lent so that you can enter into this beneficial season at your own pace.

Along the way, we will break down some of the assumptions underlying potential resistance to Lent. We will also pay close attention to various themes of Lent, including repentance, renewal, and discipleship, and how these themes can help you develop a more robust faith.

Dear Meota,

Last week I forgot to mention a key event - an event that many people call the highlight of their year... Pancake Tuesday.  Check out the details of when and where!
A reader told us what her Mom said about Candlemas.

There is a story about Broken Glass at a Winners store. There is a link to the Diocese newsletter.  And not to missed, is a list of snowplow names!
All for your inspiration and enjoyment.

God bless you this week!

Samaritan's Purse Urgent Support for Earthquake Victims

Rushing Aid to Turkey Following Massive Quakes

As I write this, Samaritan's Purse is preparing to airlift a 52-bed Emergency Field Hospital to Turkey near the epicenter of two devastating earthquakes that struck in the pre-dawn hours of Feb. 6. Thousands were killed and tens of thousands are injured in Turkey and Syria, as homes and other buildings were toppled across the region. Many of those affected were already displaced by the civil war in Syria. Freezing temperatures are hampering rescue efforts. Emergency relief supplies, including tarps, blankets, and solar lights, are also being readied to send.

Help Earthquake Victims

We have staff on the ground now and dozens more of our disaster relief personnel, including doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals, are on their way. We are working alongside local church partners to bring not only physical relief but also spiritual comfort and hope through the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please pray for those who have lost loved ones and for those who are suffering. Pray also for our teams as they serve as the hands and feet of Jesus. “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).

Sincerely, Franklin Graham - President, Samaritan's Purse

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)

Join us for the Ambrose Day of Prayer Feb 7 2023

Dear partner congregations of Ambrose University,

February 7 will be the annual Ambrose Day of Prayer, a time when we slow down and invite the friends of Ambrose to join us in asking for God’s special grace in the life of this community. We invite you and your congregation to be part of this occasion.

This Sunday, just before our Day of Prayer, would you consider including Ambrose in the Pastoral Prayer or Prayers of the People on Sunday, February 5? On our website is a list of those items for which we are, in particular, asking for God’s blessing and provision.
 The Ambrose Day of Prayer

Again, we hope you will be able to join us for the Ambrose Day of Prayer on February 7. A detailed schedule is available on the Day of Prayer webpage.

Warmly in Christ,
